Brian James Estright, 47, of Enola was arrested following a disturbance in the 600 block of North Enola Road at 7:42 p.m. on May 18, 2023, East Pennsboro Township police announced on June 7, 2023.
"Estright was intoxicated and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance," the police explained.
He "was taken to the ground" after he resisted arrest so an ambulance was called to the scene, according to the release.
While at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital, "Estright assaulted an East Pennsboro Police officer who sustained (an) injury," as stated in the release.
He was later taken to the Cumberland County Prison on the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault - Attempts to cause or causes bodily injuries to designated individuals.
- Public Drunkenness And Similar Misconduct.
- Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforce.
He was originally denied bail but it was later set at $1,000 and he post it with surety bonds on May 25, although he is listed as still in custody as of June 6, 2023, according to his latest court docket.
He served prison time for speeding and driving under the influence at the highest rate in 2004, theft in 2005 and 2006, DUI and vandalism in 2007, harassment in 2008, and DUI and resisting arrest in 2013, according to his previous court dockets. His prison sentences were reduced in every case and he was given work release nearly every time.
His formal arraignment will be held at 9 a.m. on July 10, 2023, court records show.
This is the third assault involving a patient at the hospital in May 2023. John Vincent Thorson, 42, of Carlisle, is accused of assaulting an employee of the hospital on May 27 and on May 30, the police announced that Kelly Culbert assaulted a patient at the same hospital earlier in the month.
